Sketch it out!

Development of Heidelberg’s new site was contracted out by LMD. That’s not a typo, LMD contracted out the dev work to LMO. The comps were built in Sketch on their end, which served as my introduction to Sketch as a design and development tool. This was one of those watershed moments in a Developers career where you realize the endless possibilities brought about by a new toolkit.

The Merry-go Round

It would be several years before I would find a carousel library that was robust enough to handle whatever style of carousel that a designer could come up with. Heidelberg had four separate responsive carousel designs, all with different associated logic and behavior at mobile breakpoints, all of which had to be built manually, and be smart enough to either loop or end and update the visual and interactive state of the controls, and respond to touch input on mobile.

It’s Academic!

We delivered via a subcontractor a Drupal powered site with a series of templates and interchangeable components for Heidelberg to promote their version of Campus Life.
